Trick Box - which tricks should my child know?
Trick Box has been designed by experts to support children's emotional wellbeing, both in school and beyond. It is designed as a parent/school/child tool to help children develop positive life habits and self- help strategies.
It consists of 24 simple visual tricks which children are introduced to throughout their time at St Peter's. Each trick is developed further and applied as they move up through school. The flyers below show you which tricks your child covers in each year group.

Trick Box starts by introducing our nursery children to Doodle the dog. When children join YR they get to know Drew. Each card is coloured to fit into one of four core areas:
- Confidence
- Communication
- Calm
- Creativity
Each of these areas come together to equip pupils with the strategies and skills they need to handle the kinds of situations that they will meet in life. We know that our pupils take these strategies with them in to secondary school and beyond. They are based on the kinds of skills that an adult might look at in a mindfulness session or even in cognitive behaviour therapy. Of course, everything is scripted and it's introduced in an age-appropriate way. If you'd like to find out more, please speak to your child's teacher.
We encourage all families to purchase a set of cards (£5) so that their child can apply what they have learnt to home situations.
