Healthy Schools Award

Healthy Schools in Surrey is an opportunity for schools to actively promote the health and wellbeing of the whole-school community. It is a commitment to promoting personal, social and health development and support the links between health, behaviour and achievement. It is centred around the whole school environment and all aspects of school life.

St Peter’s School currently hold the Bronze Award for Healthy Schools. This demonstrates that the health and wellbeing of the children and young people in our care are well catered for by focusing on the following four areas:

  • PSHE including 'Relationships and Sex Education' and 'Drug Education’
  • Healthy Eating
  • Physical Activity
  • Emotional Health and Wellbeing

Our successes at St Peter’s that support our Healthy Schools status include;

  • Forest School programme for all classes
  • Curriculum cookery
  • Daily Mile
  • An exceptional choice of extra-curricular sports opportunities
  • Living Streets, encouraging children to walk to school
  • Buddy system for new children in EYFS
  • Young Leaders
  • Trim Trail

Working towards Silver: Healthy Lunch Times

In response to pupil and parent voice, from Autumn 2018 we are launching a new whole school project which will focus on improving the lunch time experience for everyone.  In addition to the food, a child-led committee will look at ways to improve the lunch time environment.
